The state of Arunachal Pradesh has started the Sansad Khel Spardha competition at five different venues across the state, aimed at promoting sports culture among the youth and identifying their talents. The zonal level events are taking place in Deomali (Eastern Zone A), Tezu (Eastern Zone B), Seppa (Western Zone), Ziro (Central Zone A), and Leparada (Central Zone B). The winners from the zonal level competitions will have the opportunity to participate in the state level meet, which is expected to take place on April 15th at Rajiv Gandhi University in Doimukh and Sangay Lhaden Sports Academy.
The organizing committee of each event emphasized the importance of sports and urged participants to refrain from unlawful and anti-social activities, including drug abuse.
The state-level event will feature competitions in arm wrestling (U-16), boxing (U-16), karate-do (U-18), table tennis (U-18), tug of war (U-16), taekwondo (U-17), weightlifting (U-17), and wushu (U-17), and is expected to draw over 3,500 players from across the state. Union Law and Justice Minister Kiren Rijiju and Arunachal Olympic Association (AOA) president Er. Taba Tedir is expected to attend the inaugural ceremony on April 15th at RGU, with the AOA organizing the state level event.
