MSL 2023: Mawlai and Ladthadlaboh Stage Sensational Comebacks

The Meghalaya State League 2023 witnessed a thrilling conclusion to this week’s action, as football enthusiasts were treated to a series of astonishing matches. In today’s highlight of MSL 2023, the remarkable comebacks by both Mawlai and Ladthadlaboh, who secured victories despite initially falling behind in their respective fixtures in Shillong and Jowai.

In the first encounter, Khliehmawlieh Youth Club locked horns with Chipakkore in front of an enthusiastic crowd at the Chandmari Ground in Tura. The match proved to be a closely contested affair, with both teams displaying immense determination to claim the win. Ultimately, Khliehmawlieh Youth Club emerged triumphant with a narrow 1-0 victory, igniting joyous celebrations among their supporters.

Simultaneously, Pyndengrei and Lumdiengngan clashed at the MDSA Ground in Mawkyrwat. The encounter was tightly contested, but Lumdiengngan managed to secure a hard-fought 1-0 win, leaving their fans elated and their opponents disappointed.

The clash between Mawlai and Langsning in Shillong’s MFA Turf was a highly anticipated encounter. It showcased a battle of giants, as both teams demonstrated their prowess on the field. In the first half, Banteilang Lyngdoh netted a goal for Langsning, capitalizing on a brilliant pass from Kynsaibor Lhuid. With this lead, Langsning entered the halftime break with a 1-0 advantage.

However, the tides turned in the second half when Mawlai’s Brolington Warlarpih delivered an exceptional free-kick into the box. Langsning’s young goalkeeper, Lambhamiki Lamare, ventured forward in an attempt to clear the danger but was unable to deal with the swerving ball adequately. In the ensuing chaos, Donlad Diengdoh capitalized on the opportunity and scored from close range, equalizing for Mawlai in the 63rd minute.

Continuing their relentless pursuit of victory, Mawlai’s Warlarpih lofted another free-kick into the Langsning box in the 77th minute. Once again, Lamare struggled to handle the ball, and Robert Khongriah seized the chance to score. With this triumph, Mawlai claimed a 2-1 victory and solidified their position at the top of Group A, accumulating 6 points.

In Jowai, the clash between Rymbai Iawpynsing and Ladthadlaboh captivated the spectators at the Kiang Nangbah Stadium. Rymbai Iawpynsing took the lead twice, courtesy of a penalty conversion by Heismiki Rymbai in the second minute and another goal by Heismiki in the 79th minute. However, Ladthadlaboh displayed great resilience, staging a remarkable comeback.

After a period of confusion involving a handball incident, Ladthadlaboh equalized in the 27th minute through Teibokmi Lyngdoh. The game witnessed a total of three penalties, all of which went unconverted. Just as it seemed the match would end in a draw, Thinkwell Bareh of Ladthadlaboh netted a magnificent goal in the 88th minute from a corner kick, sealing a thrilling 3-2 victory.

Ladthadlaboh’s incredible comeback propelled them to join Rangdajied United with 7 points each in Group B, although Rangdajied United currently holds a superior goal difference of +8 compared to Ladthadlaboh’s +6.

Group D witnessed an intense encounter between Chipakkore and Khliehmawlieh. Both teams fought relentlessly for three points, demonstrating their determination on the field. The match hinged on a single mistake, as a Chipakkore defender misjudged a through ball intended for his goalkeeper. Bantei Mawlot of Khliehmawlieh seized the opportunity and scored an easy goal in the 83rd minute, securing a fortunate 1-0 victory. With this crucial win, Khliehmawlieh now leads Group D with 6 points from two outings, establishing their dominance in the competition.
