A contingent of eight Para Athletes from Arunachal Pradesh has been flagged off today to participate in the 2nd edition of the Khelo India Para Games, scheduled to take place in New Delhi from March 20, 2025.
The flag-off ceremony, held at the Obsidian Blue Hotel, was graced by Chau Zingnu Namchoom, Hon’ble MLA and Advisor to the Minister of Sports & Youth Affairs. During the event, he launched the official tracksuit and T-shirt for the athletes, marking a significant step forward for the state’s participation in the prestigious event. Also present at the ceremony were Tadar Apa, Director of Sports, Government of Arunachal Pradesh; Shri Karbia Dodum, Assistant Director; Shri Nada Apa, Sports Officer & Chief De Mission for KIPG 2025; Shri Nabam James, President of Arunachal Paralympic Association; Smt. Taying Shakuntala, Vice President of PAA; athletes, coaches, escorting staff, and members of the media.
As part of its preparation, the Department of Sports organized a coaching camp at Rajiv Gandhi University, Rono Hills, to help the athletes hone their skills. The department also extended its support by providing sports kits, elite training in New Delhi for powerlifters, and tracksuits to the participants.
During the event, Sri Dangu Talik, a bronze medalist at the 1st Khelo India Para Games, was felicitated. The Chief Guest, Chau Zignu Namchoom, distributed the tracksuits and sports kits to the athletes.
In his speech, Chau Zingnu Namchoom praised the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Pema Khandu, acknowledging the government’s efforts in enhancing the sports ecosystem in Arunachal Pradesh. He highlighted that the state’s sports infrastructure has seen remarkable improvements, offering youth better opportunities to excel on national and international platforms.
Zingnu wished the athletes success in this edition of KIPG and encouraged them to shine brightly and make Arunachal Pradesh proud.
Additionally, he informed that the state government is in the process of compiling a list of existing sports infrastructure across the state to ensure that every district has adequate facilities for all sports disciplines.
The athletes from Arunachal Pradesh are ready to showcase their talent and determination at the Khelo India Para Games 2025, further solidifying the state’s commitment to promoting para sports at all levels.
