Delhi Sports School, Delhi’s first fully residential school dedicated to sports, is now open for new admissions for the academic session 2023-24. The school will offer training in 10 identified Olympic sports, including Archery, Shooting, Athletics (Track and Field), Swimming, Badminton, Table Tennis, Boxing, Weightlifting, Lawn Tennis, and Wrestling. Students will be groomed in a highly competitive environment under the guidance of experienced coaches and utilizing cutting-edge techniques.
Operated and managed by Delhi Sports University, the school aims to provide a world-class environment for students to excel in their chosen sport and represent India on national and international sporting platforms, including the Olympics.
The school will offer a specialized sports integrated curriculum from grades VI to XII, where sporting excellence will be nurtured alongside academics. The assessment of students will be based on their sporting performance along with academics, creating a unique approach to holistic development.
Delhi Sports School will be scouting and grooming sporting talent from an early age to create a talent pool for Delhi Sports University. Students from Delhi Sports School will have the opportunity to continue their sporting and career path at the university, which will provide further career pathways, including excellence in international sports training.
One of the unique features of Delhi Sports School is the provision of free hostel accommodation for outstanding athletes from 6th to 9th grade. Additionally, education up to college and university level will be offered for free by the Delhi government, making it an excellent opportunity for budding athletes to pursue their passion without any financial burden.
The eligibility criteria for admission in Delhi Sports School for the academic session 2023-24 are as follows:
- For Class 6th and 7th: The age limit is 11-13 years and 12-14 years respectively, as of 30th September 2023. Students must have passed the previous class.
- For Class 8th and 9th: The age limit is 13-15 years and 14-16 years respectively, as of 30th September 2023. Students must have passed the previous class and should have a record of performance in their chosen sport.
Students applying for admission should be able to produce relevant documents in support of their participation or achievements in their chosen sport, wherever possible.
