Arunachal Sub-Junior Judo Team Triumphs at National Championship, Secures Eight Medals

The Arunachal Sub-Junior Judo Team made an impressive impact at the Sub-Junior National Judo Championship 2024-25, held from 18th to 21st January 2025 in Pune, Maharashtra. The event saw the participation of over judokas from across India, and the Arunachal team delivered outstanding performances, bringing home a total of eight medals, including two golds, one silver, and five bronzes.

  • Miss Chochomai Lap: Gold in the Below 44kg category (Girls)
  • Taba Titung: Gold in the Below 60kg category (Boys, Sub-Junior)
  • Miss Luna Techi Tara: Silver in the Below 57kg category (Girls)
  • Mr. Tagru Taluk: Bronze in the Below 50kg category (Boys)
  • Mr. Wangrang Wangsu: Bronze in the Below 45kg category (Boys)
  • Mr. Bugha Sangdo: Bronze in the Below 55kg category (Boys)
  • Mr. Ragi Techi: Bronze in the Below 60kg category (Boys)
  • Mr. Bolam Wangsu: Bronze in the Below 66kg category (Boys, Cadet)

The gold medal was claimed by Miss Chochomai Lap, who triumphed in the Below 44kg category, and Taba Titung, who secured the gold in the Below 60kg category for Sub-Junior boys. Miss Luna Techi Tara earned a silver in the Below 57kg category. On the boys’ side, Mr. Tagru Taluk, Mr. Wangrang Wangsu, Mr. Bugha Sangdo, Mr. Ragi Techi, and Mr. Bolam Wangsu all brought home bronze medals across various weight divisions.

With over 500 participants competing from across the country, the championship was highly competitive, and Arunachal’s performance demonstrated the strength and potential of the state’s judo athletes. This success has further established Arunachal’s position as a key player in national judo competitions.

Looking ahead, the team is now preparing for the Cadet National Judo Championship 2024-25, scheduled from 22nd to 25th January 2025, where they hope to build on their recent success.
