Cricket enthusiasts in Dima Hasao have a reason to celebrate as the construction of an international-standard cricket stadium in Umrangshu is nearing its final stages and is expected to be completed within the next two to three months. This exciting update was shared by Debolal Gorlosa, who serves as both the president of the Dima Hasao Sports Association and the Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the Dima Hasao Autonomous Council, during an announcement on a recent Saturday.
Gorlosa revealed that the construction work of this stadium, which is owned by the Assam Cricket Association (ACA), is making significant progress, signifying a new era in the sporting history of Dima Hasao.
Over the course of the next two to three months, the stadium’s construction is set to conclude, ushering in a fresh era for sports in Dima Hasao. Currently, preparations for the stadium’s opening are in full swing. Gorlosa emphasized that Dima Hasao will soon boast a total of 17 stadiums, each of which will receive an annual maintenance budget ranging from Rs.15 to 20 lakhs to ensure proper upkeep. He expressed his unwavering commitment to promoting cricket in Dima Hasao, mentioning that despite parental discouragement of football among children, they are taking proactive steps to offer government jobs to the top two football players in the Dima Hasao region.
