In a moment of immense pride for Arunachal Pradesh and the entire nation, Ms. Khinsan Wangsu, a talented Taekwondo athlete and multiple-time National Gold Medalist, has been officially selected to represent India at the prestigious World University Games 2025, to be held in Rhine-Ruhr, Germany.
The World University Games 2025, hosted by the International University Sports Federation (FISU) and organized by the German University Sports Association, will focus on themes of social, ecological, and economic sustainability, innovation, and broad-based participation. It stands as one of the world’s largest multi-sport events for university athletes, drawing participants from across the globe.
Ms. Wangsu, who hails from Mintong village in Longding District, belongs to the Wancho tribe and is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Sports Science at Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU), Rohtak, Haryana.
Known for her relentless discipline and unwavering commitment to excellence, Khinsan has earned an impressive tally of medals at the national level — four Gold, one Silver, and two Bronze — including two Gold medals at the National Games held in Goa and Uttarakhand. Her recent selection for the World University Games comes after a strong performance at the national trials held from February 11 to 14, 2025, at Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar.
Her selection is not only a personal milestone but also a significant achievement for the entire Northeast region, showcasing the emerging sports talent from Arunachal Pradesh. Khinsan’s journey from a remote village to the international stage is a beacon of hope and motivation for aspiring athletes, particularly young women from tribal and underrepresented communities.
