In a massive boost for the country’s sporting profile, the World Police Fire Games 2029 will be hosted in India. The successful bid was spearheaded by Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU), an Institution of National Importance, which made the landmark announcement on Wednesday.
This is a huge moment for Indian sports and our security personnel. The games, a prestigious international event, will see RRU taking a central role as a key organizing partner. The university is set to host eight of the sixty-three sporting disciplines on its state-of-the-art campus.
To ensure transparency and keep the public engaged in the journey to 2029, the official website for the event, www.wpfg2029.com, was also launched.
RRU’s Blueprint for the World Police Fire Games 2029
Rashtriya Raksha University isn’t just a venue; it’s the engine room for the games’ execution. The university announced it will build a dedicated force of 500 trained volunteers to ensure the event runs smoothly. Furthermore, a special Secretariat-cum-Organizing Committee will be established to handle all the planning and operational details.
Speaking on the historic achievement, RRU’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) Bimal N. Patel, highlighted the university’s vision. “We are entering a transformational phase at RRU,” he said. “From global sporting collaborations to pioneering educational ventures, each initiative is a testament to our vision of excellence, innovation, and nation-first service.”
A Broader Push for Sports and National Pride
The announcement is part of a wider series of initiatives by RRU to bolster sports and national heritage. The university has also established the country’s first-ever School of NCC and Police Martial Music Band to revive the indigenous ceremonial music tradition.
In another significant move, RRU’s Bharat Centre of Olympic Research & Education (BCORE) has launched India’s first Olympic Research Grants program. Backed by a substantial ₹75 lakh corpus, the program will support Master’s and PhD scholars in Olympics and allied studies across India and South Asia, fostering a new generation of sports researchers.
As a precursor to the 2029 games, RRU will also release a detailed catalogue of the 2025 WPFG held in Birmingham, USA, creating a valuable knowledge base for the upcoming Indian edition.
