Recognizing Yasika Rai as one of the most talented boxers in the North East region, Dr. Biswakarma praised the training efforts of Mukesh Rai, Coach at SAI Namchi, and extended his heartfelt congratulations to Subhash Tamang, who accompanied Yasika on this remarkable journey.
“This Silver Medal marks Sikkim’s return to the national boxing podium after nearly two decades,” he stated. “Yasika Rai now joins the esteemed ranks of Sikkim’s female boxing champions, becoming the fifth boxer from the state to achieve this feat at the Nationals. She follows in the footsteps of Sandhya Gurung, who won Silver in 2003 and Bronze in 2004 and 2005; Pratima Gurung, who secured Silver in 2007; Mamta Gurung, who claimed Bronze in 2014; and Roshni Subba, who earned Bronze in 2012.”
