The 7th Khelo India Youth Games (KIYG) 2025 officially commenced in Bihar on May 4, with a grand opening ceremony at Patliputra Outdoor Stadium in Patna. The event was virtually inaugurated by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi, in the presence of Bihar Chief Minister Shri Nitish Kumar, Union Sports & Youth Affairs Minister Shri Mansukh Mandaviya, and other distinguished guests.

The multi-sport youth event is being held across five cities in Bihar and will run until May 15. This year’s edition features over 10,000 participants from across the country, including more than 6,000 young athletes, who will compete in 27 disciplines. Esports has been introduced for the first time as a demonstration event, highlighting the evolving landscape of youth sports in India.

Representing Arunachal Pradesh, a 57-member contingent—including athletes, support staff, and the Chef de Mission—is participating in Athletics, Archery, Boxing, Judo, Weightlifting, Wrestling, and Esports.

On Day 1 of the competitions:

  • In Archery (Compound Round), Shri Wamun Khimhun put up a strong fight but was edged out by Rajasthan by a narrow 3-point margin in the 1/8 individual elimination round held in Rajgir.

  • In Judo, Shri Jenchun Pansa competed in the Boys -50 kg category but was defeated by his opponent from Maharashtra.

Chef de Mission Karbia Dodum is leading the Arunachal team, which continues to aim for excellence and greater visibility in the national sports arena.

The Directorate of Sports, Government of Arunachal Pradesh, extends its best wishes to all participants and urges citizens to cheer for the young athletes representing the state on this national platform.
