Inter School Cricket League for 2022/2023 Kicks off with Exciting Matches.
Shillong 12th April, 2023: The much-awaited Inter School Cricket League for 2022/2023 started with a bang as teams from various schools battled it out on the field. One of the thrilling matches was between Madrasa School and Sunrise Academy School, held at the prestigious cricket ground in the city.
Sunrise Academy School won the toss and elected to field first, putting Madrasa School to bat. In the 1st innings, Madrasa School posted an impressive total of 168/3 wickets in 15 overs. Md Wahid was the star batsman for Madrasa School, scoring a magnificent 70 runs off 44 balls, while Md Asif contributed with a solid 40 runs off 32 balls. The bowlers from Sunrise Academy School, Sparsh Sewa and Ishan Singh, picked up 1 wicket each, but could not prevent Madrasa School from setting a challenging target.
In reply, Sunrise Academy School struggled to keep up with the required run rate and could only manage 86 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in their allotted 15 overs. Md Amar top-scored for Sunrise Academy School with 31 runs off 25 balls, while Kush could only muster 6 runs off 9 balls. The bowlers from Madrasa School, Mukhtar Ali and Habibullah, were in fine form, picking up 2 wickets each and restricting Sunrise Academy School’s batting line-up.
Md Wahid, who played a crucial role with both bat and ball, was awarded the Man of the Match for his exceptional performance. He scored 70 runs and took 1 wicket in 3 overs, helping Madrasa School secure a convincing victory of 83 runs.
In another match of the Inter School Cricket League, St Anthony’s School took on Gorkha Pathshala School in a closely contested encounter. St Anthony’s School won the toss and elected to bat first. In the 1st innings, St Anthony’s School managed to score 94/6 wickets in 15 overs, with Abhinav Khanal top-scoring with 29 runs off 36 balls. Navneet KR Sha and Prateek bowled well for Gorkha Pathshala School, picking up 2 wickets and 1 wicket respectively.
Chasing the target, Gorkha Pathshala School showed great determination and reached the target in 14.2 overs, scoring 95/6 wickets. Sujit was the star batsman for Gorkha Pathshala School, scoring 35 runs off 31 balls, while Navneet contributed with 15 runs off 19 balls. Ayush and Trejosh were the standout bowlers for St Anthony’s School, picking up 3 wickets and 1 wicket respectively.
Sujit’s match-winning performance earned him the well-deserved Man of the Match award, helping Gorkha Pathshala School secure a thrilling victory by 4 wickets.
