The cricketing spotlight is on Sikkim as it prepares to host the 2nd edition of the NECDC Senior Women’s Inter-State Tournament at the scenic Sikkim Cricket Ground in Mining, near Rangpo.

Organised by the North East Cricket Development Council (NECDC), the tournament will showcase top women cricketers from six North Eastern states: Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, and Sikkim.

The tournament will follow a league-cum-knockout format, with the six teams split into two groups. Group A features Nagaland, Mizoram, and Meghalaya, while Group B consists of Sikkim, Manipur, and Arunachal Pradesh. Each team will play two matches during the group stage, and the top two from each group will advance to the semi-finals on April 10, followed by the final on April 12.

This edition marks a historic moment as the Sikkim Cricket Association hosts the prestigious tournament for the first time. The inaugural edition, held in Ri-Bhoi, Meghalaya, ended with Sikkim and Nagaland declared joint winners.

The tournament kicks off on April 7, with Nagaland taking on Mizoram in the morning, followed by an exciting clash between host Sikkim and Manipur later in the day.

With regional pride and talent on display, the event promises to be a celebration of women’s cricket and a step forward in strengthening the sport across the North East.
