Hangpan Dada Memorial Trophy, Thrilling Quarterfinals Unfold

Hangpan Dada Memorial Trophy for Football and Volleyball (U-16 Boys & Girls) witnessed thrilling matches in the Girls’ Football Quarterfinals and the League Round of Volleyball Matches (Boys & Girls) at the SLSA Ground in Chimpu, Itanagar.

In the morning session, the girls’ quarterfinal matches of the 6HDMT 2023 showcased two intense encounters. The first quarterfinal clash saw Capital Complex Girl overpower Kamle with a resounding 3-0 victory. Capital Complex Girl demonstrated their scoring prowess with Damin Asha (7′), Lingdam Yaro (3′), and Lingdam Anu (5′) finding the back of the net at the 43rd, 49th, and 70th minutes respectively, securing their team’s convincing win.

In the second quarterfinal, Anjaw emerged triumphant with a 3-1 win over Tirap. Shuhmi Ngadong (9′) opened the scoring for Anjaw in the 17th minute. Tirap retaliated with a goal by Charia Hakhun (10′) in the 25th minute. However, Anjaw quickly regained control of the match with goals from Eninly Yun (2′) at the 35th minute and Shuhmi Ngadong (55′) securing her second and final goal. These goals sealed the victory for Anjaw, providing them with a taste of success in the quarterfinal clash.

In another quarterfinal matchup, Lower Subansiri emerged victorious over Upper Siang with a 3-2 win in a penalty shootout. The match witnessed a thrilling competition, with the opening goal scored by Bongam Modi (25) of Upper Siang at the 8th minute. However, at the 70th minute, Tao Yasso (3) of Lower Subansiri equalized the score to 1-1. In the penalty shootout, Lune Pertin (7) and Buddi Maya Subha (13) managed to score a goal each for Upper Siang, but it was Tao Yasso (3), Taba Vakan (5), and Chukhu Yakar from Lower Subansiri who successfully scored three goals, securing the victory for their team.

In the 4th Quarterfinal of the Football Girls tournament, Lohit showcased their dominance with a 2-0 victory over Lower Dibang Valley. Anisem Thalai (4) of Lohit scored the opening goal at the 14th minute, setting the tone for the match. Shortly after, at the 15th minute, Amina Manyu (15) sealed the victory by scoring the winning goal for Lohit.

The volleyball league round also witnessed exciting matches with remarkable performances. In the boys’ category, Papum Pare defeated Tawang by 25/0, 25/13, while East Kameng emerged victorious over Shi Yomi with a scoreline of 17/25, 15/25. In the girls’ category, Tirap won by a walkover as West Kameng did not report, and Capital Complex defeated Tawang with a scoreline of 25/17, 25/19.

Tomorrow, the volleyball quarterfinal rounds are scheduled to begin. In the boys’ category, Kamle will face Lower Subansiri, Kurung Kumey will compete against Papum Pare, Changlang will take on East Kameng, and Lower Dibang Valley will clash with Lohit. In the girls’ category, Kurung Kumey will go up against Shi Yomi, Lower Subansiri will face Anjaw, Lower Dibang Valley will take on Kamle, and Capital Complex will compete against Papum Pare.

Additionally, the Boys’ Football Semi-Finals are also scheduled for tomorrow at 1:00 PM at the SLSA Football Ground. The first semi-final will witness a showdown between Siang and East Kameng, while the second semi-final will feature Papum Pare against West Siang.
